my first entry!!

Well I'm a blogger now! Thanks to my dear friend Holly who has set this up for me. I'm looking forward to sharing this exciting journey with my friends and family. We are thrilled to be pregnant with twin girls but it is also a very emotional and scary time. Dave and I are scarred from our previous pregnancy in which everything went so very wrong and our precious Jack didn't survive. So we approach this pregnancy with overwhelming happiness and caution. We have already visited the hospital several times with little scares! I find myself freaking out over every cramp or pulling sensation. We are in very good hands however. We have a team of experts guiding us along the way--An OB/GYN Dr. Herd and a high risk Perinatlogist Dr. Reyes. Dr. Reyes put in a cervical cerclage at 13 weeks (a surgical procedure in which the cervix is sutured closed), has me on complete bed rest (I can get up for bathrooms breaks and a daily shower), and weekly 17P shots (progesterone has been proven to lower the risk of preterm labor)began at 16 weeks. Bed rest is a challenge! I am lucky to have help. My sister (a private chef) has been working for us 3 days a week cooking yummy meals and providing wonderful company. My hope with this blog is to share my experiences as a high risk pregnancy and include pictures and updates along the way! We are 18 weeks today and the girls are thriving in their aquatic environment! They are very, very active kicking away at their mommy all day long! It is glorious. Pictures to come once Holly shows me how :) Jen
